2017 Music Scholarships Awarded
The Fort Walton Beach Community Chorus is pleased to announce the recipients of the FWBCC Memorial Scholarships for 2017. Congratulations to Ethan Mitchell (Crestview High School) and Sydney Johnson (Fort Walton Beach High School) on being awarded the FWBCC Music Scholarships ($1000.00 each). They will be performing at our Saturday night show, “Movie Magic”, on May 20th at 7:00 pm.
Ethan is a graduating senior at Crestview High School. In his 4 years at Crestview he has received membership in and awards for National Honor Society, Summa Cum Laude graduate, Most Valuable Bass in Choir program, All-County Honor Band, All-County Honor Choir, All-State Men’s honor Chorus. School Activities include CHS Chanticleer Show Choir, CHS Wind Ensemble, CHS Band Manager, CHS Sousaphone Section leader, CHS Chorale Mixed Choir Bass section leader and Vice President of Chanticleer. Community activities include Community of Christ Praise Band, COC Priesthood member, Camp S.K.A.M.P staff member for kids with cerebral palsy, Vacation Bible School Staff and delivered bread to homeless. Ethan has applied and been accepted to University of Southern Mississippi, Graceland University and Troy University. His goal is to become a professor of music and head of a band at the university level.
Sydney is a graduating senior at Fort Walton Beach High School. Her list of membership and awards include International Thespian Society, Best Actress, Design and Production Award, Superior Duet Acting, Superior Costume Construction, Superior Solo Musical, Superior Duet Musical. She has performed (singing and dancing) in numerous musicals such as Thoroughly Modern Millie and Legally Blonde. When not performing on stage Sydney is working as lighting and sound technician, costume, makeup, hair design and set design for numerous shows at FWBHS and NWFSC. She has been Worship Leader at Beachside Community Church, worked with the City of Mary Esther’s secretary, worked with TSC Productions (lighting and sound) and holds a part time job at Petland. Sydney’s plans are to attend Northwest Florida State College and pursue a degree in Musical Theatre and Stage craft. Her desire is to work for Walt Disney World and eventually move to New York City and work in Broadway Shows.
